Cruz Roja Primo Tapia Update by: BajaMatters Editorial Committee Due to unforeseen circumstances, as of January 2024, Cruz Roja Primo Tapia ceased operations as a separate chapter of Cruz Roja Mexicana. The thrift store has been closed and will remain so until further notice. It is our hope that the closure is temporary and that it will resume normal operations as soon as possible. Please be assured that the Primo Tapia ambulance service will not be interrupted by the closure and that your membership benefits will remain intact. Watch for updates. As of January 1st, the membership rate is $25.00 per person annually. The membership copay for transportation to the border is now $150. This price is for all locations in the covered area, including Bajamar. As a reminder, transportation to the border is only provided for life threatening emergencies after a triage examination at the Rosarito Cruz Roja clinic determines if this is necessary. US border officials adhere strictly to this with Cruz Roja. You may be taken directly to another hospital rather than the Cruz Roja facility however if you choose to go to a different hospital, once the ambulance delivers the patient there, transportation to the border is no longer provided by Cruz Roja. It is our understanding that your membership may be renewed at the Rosarito Thrift Store until the Primo Tapia chapter reopens. You may want to know that all Cruz Roja chapters offer the same services but if you renew in a different location, you may receive multiple reminders to renew as our memberships are tracked in separate databases. Unless you change your address to a different territory, we recommend you renew with the same chapter whenever possible.
